Spiders: signs and control

Most spiders around a property are not a danger, but webs, egg sacs and unwanted visitors can make a home or business unpleasant. We treat the areas where they build up.

Signs of spiders

  • Webs around eaves, windows, fences, sheds and outdoor furniture
  • Egg sacs in sheltered spots
  • Spiders inside the home, particularly in corners, wardrobes and garages
  • Lots of insects around outdoor lights, which spiders feed on

Why they keep coming back

Spiders go where there is food and shelter. Reducing insects and clutter, and treating favoured areas, helps keep numbers down.

What we do

  • Inspect eaves, windows, garages, sheds and outdoor areas
  • Treat the areas where spiders shelter and build webs
  • Advise on lighting, clutter and garden changes that reduce the problem
  • Explain that spiders can return from surrounding areas, so ongoing control may be needed

What you can do

  • Remove webs and egg sacs regularly
  • Reduce clutter in garages, sheds and storage
  • Keep vegetation trimmed back from the building
  • Wear gloves when moving stored items or working in the garden
