Bird proofing

Birds roosting and nesting on buildings create mess, noise and hygiene problems. We recommend a physical solution that suits the species and the structure.

Problems birds cause

  • Droppings on entries, walkways, vehicles, signage and outdoor dining areas
  • Nests in gutters, roof gaps, eaves, awnings and loading docks
  • Blocked gutters and downpipes
  • Noise, mess and smell around buildings
  • Customer and staff complaints at commercial sites

How we solve it

The right method depends on the species, the structure and how the area is accessed. After an inspection we recommend one or a combination of:

  • Netting
  • Spikes
  • Wire systems
  • Sealing roof and eave gaps

The aim is to stop birds landing, roosting and nesting, not to harm them.

Species and access

  • Different bird species are covered by different rules in Victoria, so we identify the species before recommending a method.
  • Work at height and difficult access can affect the method and the price. We will confirm what is needed after inspection.

Where it is used

Homes, shopfronts, warehouses, loading docks, car parks, awnings and other commercial buildings. Bird problems are often combined with other pest issues, so we can include them in a commercial program.

Photos help

Attach a few photos of the area when you request a quote. It helps us understand the structure, the access and the likely method.

Questions

Rodents and birds

Why do I still hear rodents after treatment?

Activity commonly continues for a short period after treatment starts, and entry points will keep drawing rodents back unless they are closed. Proofing is usually part of a lasting result.

What bird-proofing methods do you use?

The right method depends on the species, the structure and the access. Options include netting, spikes and wire systems. We inspect first and recommend the method that suits the site.
